The interdisciplinary minor in Asian studies introduces students to the culture, history, politics, economics, geography, anthropology, sociology, philosophies and religions of Asia.

Asian Studies Minor

The minor consists of 18 credit hours: 6 credit hours from culture and 6 credit hours from history and society. The remaining 6 credit hours may be chosen from any of the listed courses or may consist in whole or part of courses approved by relevant departments and the program coordinator.

Requirements:
Culture Courses: Choose two of the following courses:6
Intercultural Communication
Chinese Culture and Civilization
Chinese Literature in English Translation
Japanese Culture and Civilization
Japanese Literature in English Translation:
Asian Philosophy
Islam: Faith and Practice
Hinduism, Yoga, and Buddhism
History and Society Courses: Choose two of the following courses:6
The Vietnam War Era
Modern Japan
Modern China
Chinese Politics
Japanese and Korean Politics
Politics of the Indian Subcontinent
International Politics of Asia
Capstone Seminar in Sociology (when offerings are appropriate)
Elective Courses: Choose two from courses listed above.6
